Opportunity (UK, 5-17): Young Sounds UK Thrive funding

From Young Sounds UK:

Funding young talent UK-wide. Through our Thrive programme, we support young instrumentalists, singers, songwriters, composers and producers with funding (Awards) and other help to develop their musical potential. When you join the programme, you join a community of talented young musicians from across the UK and get free musical opportunities and advice too.

Too often, finances are a barrier for many young musicians. They have the talent and the determination, but developing their musical potential can be an expensive endeavour. Our Thrive programme offers grants to young musicians whose families are on a lower income. We support them with musical opportunities based on their own circumstances and level of need, along with funding which can be used flexibly to enable them to progress on their musical journey.

We help the young musicians on the programme to decide how to use their funding to best support their musical progression. They have 12 months to spend the funds with access to musical advice and opportunities throughout the year.

If the young person is still eligible after the year, i.e. hasn’t turned 18 and family financial circumstances haven’t changed, then they can apply again. Below are just some of the ways our young people use their funding:

  • Instruments
  • Equipment
  • Lessons
  • Transport
  • Exam fees
