Sometimes the most valuable conversations happen when there isn’t an agenda. Thanks to support from the Elizabeth Eagle-Bott Memorial Fund, starting in July 2026, we will be hosting a 9-month pilot of open Drop-in Sessions.
Following community demand, these sessions are informal gatherings for blind and partially sighted musicians, audio producers, sound engineers, educators and anyone with an interest in music and sound. They provide a welcoming space to connect with others, share experiences, ask questions, exchange ideas and build relationships within the community.
Whether you’re looking for advice, inspiration, collaboration opportunities, or simply a friendly conversation with people who understand your experiences, you’re welcome to join us – first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm UK time!

Unlike our webinars, our Drop-in Sessions don’t have a fixed topic or programme. Instead, they offer a relaxed space to talk about whatever is relevant to you right now.
Topics might include:
- Music-making and performance
- Audio production and recording
- Accessible music technology
- Screen readers and software workflows
- Education and training
- Career development
- Creative projects
- Accessibility challenges and solutions
- New opportunities, events and resources
Bring your questions, ideas, challenges, and successes. Every session is shaped by the people who attend.
Blind and partially sighted musicians and audio engineers are often geographically dispersed, making it difficult to find opportunities to meet peers in person. Our Drop-in Sessions help bridge that gap by creating a regular online space where people can connect, compare notes, and learn from one another.
Following our open feedback session, one participant told us:
“I thought this was amazing being able to talk to likeminded individuals in a casual setting. It was really inspiring to hear from others and be able to share experiences.”
Another shared:
“It feels like there are precious few of us. I very often feel as if it’s just me, so I’d really appreciate a space to compare notes. It’s always really good to swap hints and tips.”
Online video tutorials and written resources are incredibly valuable, but sometimes things don’t go to plan.
Perhaps you’ve followed a guide but your software isn’t responding in the way you expected. Maybe your screen reader is behaving differently from everyone else’s. Or perhaps you’re exploring a new workflow and want to hear how others approach it.
Our Drop-in Sessions provide a place to ask questions, troubleshoot problems and benefit from the community’s collective experience. If an answer isn’t immediately available, it may be possible to arrange follow-up support or connect you with someone who can help.
Sometimes the smallest piece of information can unlock a whole new possibility.
These sessions are about more than solving problems. They’re about building human connections.
Many of the conversations that happen in creative communities don’t take place in formal meetings. They happen over a cup of tea, between sessions, or during casual chats with people who share similar interests.
Our Drop-in Sessions aim to create that same sense of connection online.
You might meet future collaborators, discover new opportunities, hear about exciting projects, or simply enjoy spending time with people who understand the unique intersection of music, sound and visual impairment.
Our Drop-in Sessions are designed to be casual, open and supportive. They’re also an opportunity to discuss topics that people may not feel comfortable raising in a recorded webinar, professional environment or educational setting.
Every session is hosted and moderated by two members from Sound Without Sight’s steering group to help ensure that everyone feels welcome and respected.
