Event (Bristol): Drake Music launch DMLab workshops in Bristol

23 April
Pervasive Media Studio, Bristol

Discover the future of inclusive music-making at DMLab Bristol: Assistive Music Technology Workshop, a free, hands-on evening at Watershed’s Pervasive Media Studio. Led by disability arts charity Drake Music, this welcoming event brings together musicians, technologists, designers and curious creatives to explore how innovation can break down barriers to music creation.

Open to both Disabled and non-disabled participants, the workshop offers a relaxed space to connect, share ideas and experiment—no technical experience required. Attendees can try out accessible musical instruments, hear about cutting-edge projects, and collaborate with others interested in shaping the future of music technology.

The session begins with an introduction to assistive music technologies and inspiring demonstrations, followed by a hands-on exploration where conversation and creativity take centre stage. Guided by Dr. Kyle Keane, an expert in assistive technology design, the workshop combines research insight with lived experience to create an engaging and inclusive environment.

Whether you’re a musician, maker or simply curious, this is a unique opportunity to learn, network and imagine new possibilities for accessible music. Drop in, get involved, and be part of a growing community rethinking how music can be created and experienced by everyone.
