Competition: your music or sound design in our podcast intro

Hello all,

Thank you for a great month. We launched our Monthly Meet-up Sessions, and have seen a real uptick in the News and Knowledge Hub articles contributed to the project. You may have noticed that we now have automated emails to our mailing list for each type of content.

Excitingly, we have a batch of podcasts to be rolled out in the coming weeks, including the recording of our first Monthly Meet-up Session, featuring Slau Halatyn. However, we need your help! We will be producing a reusable intro and outro, which can be placed at the head and tail of these recordings, and would like to showcase the work of our community members as part of this.

Competition categories

Firstly, we are looking for a piece of music to sit under the spoken intro and outro. We would be using a short excerpt from your submitted track – around 30 seconds. We are open to all styles, but we believe an uplifting or energetic piece would be a good fit with the solution-focused approach of the project. An instrumental piece is likely to work best.

Secondly, we are looking for a short sonic logo, which will accompany the visual Sound Without Sight logo in videos produced by the project. This should be around 3 seconds in duration. This may include the spoken words “Sound Without Sight” but this is not essential.

How to enter

If you are interested in submitting an idea for either (or both!) of these categories, please contact us by 11.59pm GMT on Friday 29th March 2024:

We will pick one submission from each of these categories, and the winner of each competition will each be able to pick a £50 voucher from the Amazon Gift Card store. We would also like to feature your compositions in full in an article on Sound Without Sight, along with an interview with you about your creative process.

I’m looking forward to hearing your ideas!

Jay Pocknell
