The National Youth Orchestra have opened applications for a one-year programme to provide an enriching and developmental experience for those who are accepted. The programme is aimed at young people aged 13 – 18 that have an orchestral instrument grade 6 or above and show exceptional interest in music.

About NYO, the National Youth Orchestra

Founded by Dame Ruth Railton in 1948 as a post war symbol of hope and confidence in  the UK’s young people. For over 70 years NYO has developed and supported the aspirations of young musicians throughout the UK and this pioneering spirit has made them an award winning leader of music education.

They are firm believers that music as acts as a crucial form of communication for young people and can also serve as therapy though expression. With a rise in mental health conditions  in the UK’s youth coupled with a parallel funding shortage to the arts in education there has never been a more important time for organisations such as NYO.
